Non-surgical skin rejuvenation, one of the fastest growing areas of cosmetic plastic surgery, utilizes Botox®, injectable dermal fillers, laser resurfacing and skin tightening technologies.
A facelift tightens loose skin of the face and neck. Scars are hidden in the hairline, in front of the ear, and behind the ear. A facelift produces a younger, refreshed appearance, and should never look “tight” or “stretched.” Total facial rejuvenation can be achieved when a facelift is combined with eyelid surgery, a brow lift, and dermal fillers in facial creases.
Low, sagging eyebrows produce a tired or angry appearance, and also contribute to hooding of the upper eyelids. Also known as a forehead lift, a brow lift raises the eyebrows to a higher, yet natural position, and minimizes frown lines and vertical creases. Scars are hidden behind the hairline or at the hairline depending on the technique used. Patients with a low-positioned or a sagging brow without excess skin are good candidates for an endoscopic brow lift. Eyelid surgery is often performed at the same time.
Cosmetic eyelid surgery, also called blepharoplasty, improves the appearance of the upper and lower eyelids by removing excess skin and bulging fat deposits. Rejuvenation of the area surrounding the eyes results in a more rested and alert appearance. An upper eyelid lift may be done in the office with local anesthesia and oral sedation. Dr. Streitmann performs lower eyelid surgery using an incision inside the eyelid, leaving no visible scar on the skin.
Cosmetic surgery of the nose, also called a rhinoplasty, improves the appearance and proportion of the nose, enhancing facial harmony. Refinements of the nose can include the tip, bridge, nostrils, profile, or width. Internal breathing problems can be corrected at the same time.
Cosmetic Ear Surgery
Also called an otoplasty, cosmetic ear surgery repositions the ear closer to the head, and recreates the proper curvature at the top of the ear. Although otoplasty can be performed at any age, surgery is usually performed before kindergarten to prevent teasing by other children.
Despite exercise and dieting, localized fat deposits may persist. These areas are the result of family traits or gender, rather than an unhealthy lifestyle. Liposuction removes fat deposits resistant to diet and exercise, improving body contour and proportion. Ultrasonic liposuction is used to promote skin retraction and liquify fat for easier removal. Common areas where liposuction is performed include the chin, neck, back, abdomen, flanks, inner and outer thighs, buttocks, knees, and upper arms.
A small chin causes the facial features to appear unbalanced, often making a normal sized nose look overly large. A soft implant is placed over the jaw bone to lengthen the chin, increase chin prominence, or both if necessary. A chin implant also tightens the skin of the chin and upper neck.
Many women with thin lips desire a fuller appearance. Fillers can be used in the lips, but some patients want a more permanent solution. Either donor tissue, or living tissue from the patient, can be used to increase lip volume. The tissue is placed into the lip using tiny incisions near the corner of the mouth, and scars are nearly invisible once healed.
