What Is A Thigh Lift?

Medial thigh lift surgery is a procedure wherein the thighs are reshaped by reducing excess skin and/or fat for smoother skin and more firm, youthful-looking body contours. Many patients achieve the following benefits after the medial thigh lift surgery is performed:

More Firm, Youthful-Looking Body Contours:
As excess skin is removed, sagging in the inner or outer thigh is minimized for firmer, youthful-looking body contours.

Higher Self-Esteem And Confidence:
Thighs will be toned, firmed, and ready to show off shortly after the surgery is performed – allowing patients to feel more confident with higher self-esteem!

Dr. Michael J. Streitmann will consult with you to discuss your expectations and desired outcome, as well as any potential risks or concerns, in order to ensure the success of the surgery. Once the surgery is performed, the results are almost immediate – giving you smoother, more toned thighs while improving skin quality in appearance and feel. Our cosmetic surgery offices are located in both the Houston, TX and Woodlands – Conroe area.

Am I a Candidate for a Thigh Lift?

Typically, any patient who is in overall good health and who wants to reshape their inner thighs is a candidate for this procedure. An inner thigh lift is most effective for patients who have lost a lot of weight and have sagging skin in the thigh area. It is also helpful for people who have lost skin elasticity due to aging. Dr. Michael Streitmann will discuss whether you are a good candidate during your consultation.

Thigh Lift Surgery & Procedure

Before your thigh lift surgery in Houston, TX, you will have a consultation with Dr. Michael Streitmann. This will include a discussion of the procedure, your health, and your goals. He will ensure that you are a good candidate for a medial thigh lift. He will also ensure that the procedure is a good fit for your expectations.

In most cases, the procedure is performed under general anesthesia. It will be performed in one of our well-equipped, modern operating rooms. Your inner thigh lift is usually performed as an outpatient procedure that will take a few hours under normal circumstances.

An incision is made in the inner thigh near the groin. As necessary, excess skin will be removed and tightened. Additionally, fat may be removed and/or reshaped to achieve a more shapely, desirable look for the thigh area. The remaining skin will be pulled tight and sutured. Although all surgeries produce scars, the marks from this procedure are usually very subtle and out of sight.

The difference between the thigh lift before & after the procedure can be quite significant. Most patients are very happy with their results.

Inner Thigh Lift Recovery

The recovery process for this type of plastic surgery is relatively average for a cosmetic procedure and may take several weeks. Most patients experience moderate discomfort for a few days to a week following the procedure. This can be easily managed with pain medication. There is typically some swelling and bruising that will peak around three days after the procedure. This should improve significantly within 10 days.

Most patients can return to their normal daily lives between a week and ten days after the procedure. By about two weeks after the procedure, there will be minimal visual signs of the surgery. Exercise and rigorous activities can be continued about four weeks after the procedure. The scar will be matured within approximately six months.

Every patient’s recovery process is a little different. We will provide you with individualized instructions and expectations before your procedure. You can contact us at any time with questions or concerns about your recovery.

Expected Thigh Lift Costs

As they are usually performed as an elective, cosmetic procedure, inner thigh lifts are not typically covered by insurance. The exact cost of a thigh lift surgery depends on the extent of the procedure and the patient’s unique situation. We will work with you to find an option that works for your budget.

Thigh Lift FAQs

Where is the incision placed?

The incision is made between the groin and the buttocks. It is virtually invisible in most cases.

Is the thigh lift scar visible?

All surgeries produce some scars. However, Dr. Michael Streitmann uses the latest best practices to help to minimize the visibility of scars. This includes making a discrete incision at the groin. The scar will usually be completely hidden by clothing, even when wearing a bathing suit.

How can it slim the thighs, if the incision is just in the groin?

From that incision point, we are able to access the excess fat and skin around the inner thighs. This procedure can make the entire thigh look shapelier. Since the thighs are widest at the top, by pulling the skin up, we can make the skin tighter throughout.

Does an Inner Thigh Lift replace liposuction?

Liposuction is a separate procedure that can be used anywhere on the body. It is sometimes used as a component of an inner thigh lift to remove excess fat. A thigh lift should not be considered a direct replacement for liposuction nor vice versa.

How Long Does A Thigh Lift Take?

Typically, an inner thigh lift can be completed in two to three hours. Some patients may require more or less time depending on individual characteristics and needs.

What kind of anesthesia is used for this procedure?

For most patients, we use general anesthesia for this procedure. You will be asleep throughout the surgery.

What Makes Recovery From the Thigh Lift Procedure Challenging?

An inner thigh lift can make sitting very difficult or even impossible for a while after the surgery. We will provide you with specific guidance and advice to help ensure a successful recovery.

How Long Is The Recovery After A Thigh Lift?

There will be discomfort for several days after the procedure for up to a week. Most patients have visually recovered within two weeks. Full recovery usually takes about four weeks.

What Results Can Be Expected From Thigh Lift Surgery?

An inner thigh lift is very effective at creating shapelier, younger-looking thighs. Most patients report being very pleased with the results.
