A brow lift surgery eases muscle tension in your forehead and transforms your face, giving you a more friendly and youthful appearance!

With age often comes sagging, expression lines, and other aging signs near the eyebrows, which often result in an angry or tired look, not to mention the hooding of your upper eyelids.

Luckily, a simple operative cosmetic service exists and can prove effective enough to help you attain a more friendly, youthful look.

What Are the Benefits of A Brow Lift?

Here are reasons to make you consider getting a brow lift:

  • Eases muscle tension, resulting in enhanced relaxation
  • Repositions the sagging folds between the eyelids and brows
  • Minimizes forehead wrinkles and the vertical lines across the nose bridge
  • Raises the brows’ position to deliver a more youthful, refreshed appearance
  • Enhances the frown lines between the brows

Male Brow Lifting vs. Female Brow Lifting

The extent to which the brow area ages significantly varies from person to person. And the brow aesthetics of both males and females are also quite different.

The male brow is situated over the eye socket’s bony upper margin and is more horizontal. The female brow, on the contrary, is placed over the eye socket’s rim and is more arched over the sides.

The aging of the female brow is characterized by the heaviness of soft tissue and skin in the upper eyelid. The result is an angry, tired look – the central brow muscles may bring about brow skin corrugations and deep vertical wrinkles in the forehead and central brow.

A brow lift surgery will prove necessary to rectify this aging process, and there are several approaches to go about it (the optimal procedure is discussed during consultation).

The aging of the male brow isn’t any different, only that the aesthetics may command a different approach. Performing an orthodox female brow lift on a male could result in an unnatural appearance and feminize the brow. For that reason, male brows dictate a careful examination to determine the best procedure to do the job while retaining the male aesthetic.

Brow Lift FAQs

How Do I Know If I Need A Brow Lift?

That’s up to you. A sagging, heavy brow becomes furrowed and can make you look tired or even permanently upset. Brow lifts do just what they sound like: They reduce age-related brow sagging by either surgical or non-invasive means, such as Botox or Xeomin injections or ultrasound therapy, in order to make you look happier and more alert.

Can I Get A Brow Lift Without Surgery?

While the name “brow lift” makes it sound like surgery is a part of the package, that’s not necessarily the case.

Botox injections are a well-known non-invasive treatment for brow lifts that use controlled amounts of Botox neurotoxins to tighten and lift your brow.

Dr. Streitmann also uses Xeomin for patients who are not eligible for surgery or other traditional brow lift procedures. Xeomin is a prescription intramuscular injection that drastically reduces the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines and forehead wrinkles.

Ultrasound therapy, a.k.a Ultherapy, uses targeted ultrasound to tighten your brow and is not at all invasive. Surgery, however, is always an option and is sometimes the best choice.

Is Getting A Brow Lift Painful?

Brow lifts are typically not painful at all. Most patients say that they experience little to no pain at all. However, some patients experience tightness and discomfort for the two weeks following their brow lift. Bruising and swelling may also occur, but should also pass within two weeks or so.

Are The Results Permanent?

Although the positive effects of a single brow lift procedure will last, you will continue to age after the procedure and will eventually need to touch it up after five to 10 years because your brow will start to droop again. However, even if you don’t touch up the brow lift, the treated area will droop less than it would have if you had not had the first one! Touch-ups on a brow lift are no more difficult, risky or uncomfortable than the first procedure.

What Is The Typical Recovery Time After The Procedure?

It takes about two weeks for the discomfort and possible bruising and swelling to subside and your brow to completely recover from the procedure. If you experience these symptoms for longer than two weeks, you should contact us to see whether there is a reason for concern.

Are There Any Risks Or Side Effects To Watch Out For?

Most brow lifts will have little to no noticeable side effects after the initial recovery period. Sometimes patients have suffered from a loss of sensation around the incision site after a surgical brow lift. The best way to prevent this is to turn to an experienced licensed plastic surgeon like Dr. Streitmann.

What Are My Brow Lift Options?

Dr. Michael Streitmann may employ one of the techniques below on your brow lift procedure:

  • An endoscopic procedure involves three small incisions made to accommodate an endoscope used to guide surgical tools to the target area.
  • An open procedure involves a horizontal incision along or further back from your hairline, depending on your scalp hair density and forehead height.
  • A limited-incision foreheadplasty that combines an upper eyelid incision with another incision at the temples, in the hair. This surgery corrects both forehead and brow issues.
  • A temporal lift to rectify your outer eyebrow’s drooping. The procedure involves making an incision behind or at the hairline above the years in the temple.

What Is Recovery from Brow Lift Like?

You may experience some swelling and bruises after the brow lift procedure, but they should recede in a few weeks. Post-surgery discomfort is often minimal and only needs oral pain medication to manage.

Brow lift patients typically take roughly one to two weeks to return to their regular activities. However, the limitation for strenuous activities may extend for relatively much longer.

How Noticeable Are Brow Lift Scars?

Large incisions were necessary for a typical brow lift procedure in the past, but that’s not the case anymore.

With Dr. Streitmann’s cutting-edge surgical techniques, expect nothing but very minimal and barely visible scarring. Dr. Streitmann employs tiny incisions within the hairline, facilitating faster healing and reduced swelling.

How Much Does a Brow Lift Cost?

The amount a brow lift costs will vary from individual to individual, depending on how much work needs to be done. You could contact us for an estimate, but you can only confirm the pricing during a consultation.
