Most would agree that having the opportunity to grow older and experience life is a gift – but the visible signs of aging certainly are not. From wrinkles and sun damage to scarring and sagging skin, the effects of aging can wreak havoc on your self-confidence.

Thankfully, a wide range of innovative aesthetic treatments and procedures have made it possible to reclaim your youthful appearance and age more gracefully than ever before.

Collagen and Elastin Production: The Key to Anti-Aging

Collagen and elastin are the best defense against the signs of aging and are already naturally produced by your body. However, as early as age 20, the rate of elastin and collagen production begins to slow down. This means that as early as your 30s, it is not unusual to realize that your skin is beginning to show its age.

But when given a boost by advanced aesthetic treatments, collagen and elastin can keep you looking fresh-faced and naturally youthful. And because these treatments are designed to support the already-occurring processes within your body, they are typically non-invasive but highly effective.

Radiofrequency and Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatments for Anti-Aging

For most people, focusing on improving the skin’s texture, elasticity, and tone can virtually erase the years from their faces. Radiofrequency and laser skin rejuvenation treatments accomplish these goals with slightly different methods, serving as an exceptional alternative to cosmetic surgery.

Although each one is different, there are a few shared commonalities as well. Typically, these anti-aging treatments require about an hour or less to complete and are described by most as virtually pain-free.

Depending on your specific skin concerns and aesthetic goals, one or more of these treatments may be right for you. Ultimately, meeting with a professional to discuss your options is the best way to make an informed choice that will deliver the results you are dreaming of.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatment?

Laser skin resurfacing treatment is an aesthetic treatment that uses a highly controlled source of heat (contained in a specialized laser) to target your skin’s surface.

By gently removing the top layers of skin, the laser acts as an eraser of sorts – you will be amazed to see your fine lines, age spots, and wrinkles appear to be wiped away. Once the outermost skin layers are gone, your body’s healing process begins to accelerate. Collagen production kicks into high gear, and fresh skin replaces the damaged, dull layers that were there before.

There are two primary types of laser skin resurfacing treatments: fractional and full ablative.

Full Ablative Laser Skin Resurfacing

Full Ablative Laser Skin Resurfacing is performed in a single treatment session and utilizes a specialized ablative laser over the entire treatment area. The laser removes the outermost layers of skin, exposing the new, fresh skin beneath. Because these newer layers will be slightly tender and sensitive for a short period, sun protection and proper care are key. For many of our patients, taking a few days off of work (up to a week) is the most convenient option for ensuring safe and comfortable healing.

Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing

Fractional laser skin resurfacing is structured over a series of treatments, providing beautiful results without minimal downtime. Rather than remove all damaged skin within the target area, fractional skin resurfacing is used to create many tiny wells in the surface of the skin. The final results of fractional laser skin resurfacing are equal to those of full ablative, but simply require multiple treatments to achieve (rather than just one).

Benefits of Laser Skin Resurfacing

The benefits of anti-aging laser treatments include a marked improvement in various skin concerns, including:

      • Wrinkles and fine lines
      • Acne scarring
      • Sun damage
      • Brown spots
      • Uneven pigmentation

What are Radiofrequency Skin Treatments?

Much like laser resurfacing, radiofrequency treatments are intended to combat the signs of aging. A small, handheld device is maneuvered by a professional, using radiofrequency waves to gently heat the skin.

Many patients opt to combine RF skin treatments with microneedling, a process that uses microscopic needles to create minuscule channels in the skin to further promote natural healing and rejuvenation. Collagen and elastin are also produced in increased amounts, post-treatment, restoring your skin on a deeper structural level.

Benefits of Radiofrequency Treatments

If you are considering a radiofrequency treatment, benefits include improvements in:

      • Fine lines and wrinkles
      • Firmness and texture
      • Acne
      • Scars
      • Stretch marks
